Fiona Jurd-Smith

Principal – RAD Ballet (Registered teacher), Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical and Private Coaching

Fiona has been studying Dance for over 40 years and has enjoyed a professional dance and acting career that took her all over the world. Not only an accomplished dancer, Fiona also has an advanced diploma in Dramatic Art from the Actors Centre Australia (ACA).

Fiona has worked with children for many years, and through her experience and training understands needs required of children at different age levels and experience. Her choreography is fresh and current and her work has been seen at many events including the Sydney Opera House, Gold Coast Arts Centre, Dream world, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Homebush State Sports Centre, Andaman Resort Genting Thailand and the Art Gallery of NSW. Her students have won many eisteddfods and competitions under her guidance and also gone on to professional careers.

Fiona has worked with many of Australia's top choreographers and some of her professional dance credits include: Grease the Arena Spectacular, Happy Days the Musical, Sydney Showboat, Reef Hotel Casino Cairns, Dame Edna Everage Show and Warner Bros Movie world. On screen she has been seen in All Saints, Comedy Inc and Numerous TV commercials.

Brad Green

Jazz, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Tap & Private Coaching

Brad is an important part of our team, teaching all of the performance students.

With over 25 years experience in the performing arts industry, Brad has performed, choreographed & coordinated for numerous productions both nationally & overseas. Studying in all facets of the performing arts, he has had many opportunities to perform & choreograph for and along side some of the worlds most elite industry professionals & companies.

As a freelance performer he has appeared in various film clips, TV commercials, TV appearances, films and on stages around he world.
As well as performing and creating Brad finds his passion in teaching and inspiring tomorrows generation of young performers. He has taught all around the world receiving much acclaim. We are excited for him to be joing the PPA team on a regular basis!

Sophie Holloway

Black Stream Jazz, Musical Theatre, Lyrical/Contemporary

While still well on her journey as an emerging artist and performer, Sophie has already achieved major milestones that are the envy of the industry.

After training from a young age under Bernadette Langshaw-Clark and Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, Sophie hit the Australian scene as a commercial dancer and model, featuring on TV shows including So You Think You Can Dance Australia, The Wiggles and Dance Academy as well various television and print advertising campaigns including DANCEtrain Magazine.

From there Sophie landed a coveted role in the ensemble of performers in Baz Lurhmann’s film The Great Gatsby, as well as contributing her talents to the film Razzle Dazzle. Sophie then took her talents to the seas where she was a featured dancer on the Carnival Cruise Lines and has also worked in Bonnie Lythgoe’s most recent Pantomime, Cinderella.

Chasing her ultimate dream, Sophie made her way to New York City in 2014 where she attended the annual “cattle call” auditions to join the prestigious Radio City Rockettes. Since landing a spot in the company this opportunity has opened many doors for Sophie. She has consistently been selected for the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (NBC), numerous marketing campaigns and US talk shows with the Rockettes. Specifically, she performed with Michael Buble in his Christmas In New York special (NBC) and Teen Vogue’s special with Maddie Ziegler and The Rockettes. In addition to her overseas travels, Sophie also thoroughly enjoys sharing her knowledge and passion for the Performing Arts to children of all ages.

Keirstin Long

RAD Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Tap & Private Coaching

Miss Keirstin's professional career started in her youth with appearances in numerous advertisements, soap operas, TV movies and movies.

Her dance career includes touring contracts in Sydney and Asia in Cabaret, for Regency Artist and Glen Walsh Productions. She was Dance Captain for the ABC TV Australian National Christmas tour and Sega World, Sydney. Miss Keirstin was also a member of Tap Dogs for the Opening Ceremony at Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.

Keirstin also made numerous TV appearances and tours for Disney Entertainment Australasia and Promotechniques, where she later became resident choreographer.

Keirstin started teaching at the age of 16 with Langshaw Dancity in Sydney and Aquianas College, teaching Two Unit Dance for the Catholic Education system.

Moving to Canberra she first taught at Canberra Youth Ballet before taking a job as head of Theatre Arts at Lisa Clarke School of Dance, all the while studying and Teaching at Vital Action Pilates Studio.

In Perth Miss Keirstin became owner and Principal of The DancEdge Co. a boutique dance school in Mandurah which ran successfully for 12 years. During this time the schoolregularly enjoyed excellent Examination results in RAD Classical Ballet and ISTD Modern, Jazz and Tap with a 100% of students receiving results at a Merit to Distinction level.

Keirstin also became a Regional Panel member for the Royal Academy of Dance in 2013 till 2018.

In 2015 & 2016 Keirstin undertook the leadership of the Modern/ Contemporary Dance Department at Pevnev Ballet Academy.

In 2018 Keirstin became head of Classical Ballet at Dance Fit Dance Academy and Toxic Cheer and Dance, while still maintaining her Elite students at The DancEdge co.

Julia Howison (nee Griggs)

RAD Ballet

Julia began dancing at young age with Rogersons Ballet Academy attending classes for RAD ballet, FATD Tap, modern and jazz. She successfully attained her Gold Star exam for Modern and also successfully passed with high grades her RAD ballet exams from Primary through to Advance 2. She competed in many eisteddfods for solos and troupes and began her teaching career there as a student teacher under the guidance of Barbara and Jennifer Rogerson.

In 1990, Julia attended McDonald College School for Performing Arts to further her career in ballet. During this year she was a semi-finalist for the Australian Ballet School. The following year she commenced full-time ballet training with Prudence Bowen at Ecole Classique. She continued to be successful at eisteddfods and other competitions for solos and troupes and achieved ARAD status by completing her Advance 2 exam. She was also a finalist in the prestige SODA Ballet Scholarship.

In 1993 Julia joined the Singapore Dance Theatre as an apprentice dancer. SDT is the premier national dance company in Singapore. The company performs 5 to 6 seasons per year. during this time, Julia went on tour with the Company to China and Australia. She was regularly a guest teacher at various ballet schools throughout Singapore and also participated in the Company’s Education and Outreach program.

In 1999, Julia began teaching at K and V Dancers (later became K & V Dance Corp) and completed her RAD Teachers certificate achieving Registered Teacher status. With Kim Rogerson, our students achieved very successful RAD ballet results from Pre-Primary through to Advance 2 with most students gaining Distinction. They were also very successful at various eisteddfods and competitions. In 2010 Julia became an important part of the PPA team as an RAD ballet teacher.

Julia continues to attend many dance related courses in particular those from the RAD to ensure her skills as a teacher are up to date with current and relevant techniques appropriate for todays dancer to succeed in their chosen career. She has a thorough knowledge of the new RAD syllabus from Pre-Primary in Dance to Advance 2.

Over the 20 years of teaching ballet, her students have been very successful in their RAD exams (from Pre-Primary to Advance 2) with most receiving Distinction. Many of these students have also been very successful at various eisteddfods and competitions, many of which have gone on to have their own dance careers around the world. She has also had students that have been accepted into the Australian Ballet School’s Interstate Program, the Australian Ballet School, Royal Ballet School, Joffery Ballet in New York, Houston Ballet School and Queensland Ballet School. Students have also received full scholarships to various international summer schools.

Naomi Leader

Hip Hop, Contemporary & Jazz

Naomi Leader is a singer, dancer and actress from the Gold Coast. She is a versatile performer with a power house voice and pocket rocket energy. After playing leading roles on stage throughout high school, Naomi moved to Sydney to further her training in music theatre and commercial dance at Ed5 International. It was here that she completed the International Full Time Performing Arts Course. Naomi was offered a contract with Universal Studios Singapore straight out of full time as their lead Singer/Dancer in the Mel’s Dinette Show. The company was impressed by Naomi’s creative flare for choreography and offered her the opportunity to choreograph and feature in a commercial dance segment for their New Year’s Countdown Event in 2016.

Naomi skill, professionalism and passion has led her to star in countless productions and work with some of Australia's top creative faces. In 2015 she toured Australia as a supporting dancer with Grammy award winning songwriter, record producer and engineer, Eric Bellinger. In 2015 she was invited to assist Star Dancer and choreographer Kate Wormald at the Kar Dance Convention, and has worked with Phillip Filo as a professional singer for Grayboy the Agency, recording tracks for their cruise ship shows.

In 2019 Naomi travelled to LA to train with some of the world’s best choreographers including Liana Blackburn, Galen Hooks, Boy Boi, Kenny Wormald and Dom Kelley. Whilst training, she also worked with LA music producers on her debut album.

Naomi worked with musician/producer Dru Chen on her two singles and EP "Is This Ideal?", available on Spotify and other streaming services. Her debut album is due to be released at the end of 2020.

Allyra Martinez

Jazz & Contemporary

Allyra has been dancing all genres for 10 years, and trained at Glenda Yee School of dance. Many experiences came along such as dancing at MTV awards, dolly teen choice awards, ING ball dancing along side Ricky lee (choreographed by Ame delves), dancing with Cassie Davis in So You Think You Can Dance (Project Moda) , Bonds parades, dancing at the hair show expo (Ame Delves), morning shows with Kerrie Anne and lots more.

Allyra graduated at Mcdonald College in 2009. In 2010, Allyra completed certificate IV in a full-time course for a year at Ed5 International.

In 2011 Allyra has also danced along side Michael Jacksons interpreter in the Jason Jackson show amongst various corporate functions, and along side other up coming artist such as Prinnie Stevens (choreographed by Marko Panzic), Erica Brandalise (choreographed by Cory To'o), Sabrina Mitwali (choreographed by Chris Tsattalios) all at festivals, events and corporate functions.

Other experience includes dancing on many TV shows for Geri Halliwell at grand finale footy show, The Voice with Ricky Martin and Xfactor for Jessie J. Many film clips such as Zoe Badwis (choreographed by Squared Division), Anthony Callea (self choreographed), Marvin Priest, Angus and Julia Stone (choreographed by Casey Lee) and many more. She has also been in previous commercials and tv series such as Dance Academy series 2 and The Lamb TVC commercial (choreographed by Simone Lind). Allyra also travelled for dancing performing in the millennium production of cartoonival in the Middle East. Many corporate shows including Amway Gala with Jason Coleman, Charity events etc. Danced at the hair show schwartzkopf.

Ilyan Keay

Acrobatics

Ilyan Keay begun her career as an elite gymnast, training at the NSW Institute of Sport and securing a scholarship at the AIS. She medalled on the Sports Acrobatics state and national circuits several times before dedicating herself to her forte Trampolining.

After being selected to be a part of the National Squad for Trampoline for many years and winning multiple national championships in Trampoline and Synchronized Trampoline, Ilyan won an impressive two bronze medals in the Australian International Challenge 2002.

She went on to have an impressive showing at the prestigious Flower Cup in Holland 2003, defeated all of the Australians in her age group in both of her events at the World Age Games in Germany 2003 and was selected on the Youth Olympics Australian Team in 2003 before retiring from competition at the age of 16.

During her trampoline career Ilyan was awarded the prestigious 'NSW Sporting Blue' and 'NSW Gymnast of the year Awards' as well as being invited to be a part of the first annual 'Layne beachley Aim for the Stars Awards.' Ilyan also twice took out the NSW Schools competition Mens and Womens Champion of Champions in Trampoline Competition.

Ilyan continued to remain active by dancing with Newtown High School of the Performing Arts Senior Dance Company, travelling to the United States to compete and perform. She went on to do Physical Theatre with Legs On The Wall and the Australian Theatre for Young People and can now be found performing acrobatics at events across Sydney.

Ilyan has been coaching trampoline, tumbling, circus and acrobatics for over a decade and uses her vast experience and technical knowledge to create engaging classes for kids and kids at heart!

In 2016 Ilyan took her love of acrobatics and turned it into a fulltime career, channeling her efforts into creating AcroPals. Developing a sports Acrobatics based program that utilises music and routines to teach skill drills and following a clear skill progression. AcroPals teachers will work with the AcroPals App, uploading and cataloging students achievements and creating a community hub for aspirational images and videos to motivate students to become the best little Acrobats they can be!

Kylie Ann Aliferis

RAD Ballet, Tap, Contemporary

Kylie Ann has been studying Dance for over 40 years and has enjoyed a professional dancing and acting career and now is able to continue with this journey as a Qualified and registered Dance Teacher. From a very young age, her passion and enthusiasm for the Performing Arts were very strong. Having studied under the direction of Bernadette Langshaw-Clark at The Langshaw Studio Kylie Ann has had the opportunity to perform both overseas and here in Sydney. Kylie Ann has attained the Associate Diploma in Modern Theatre TAP and Associate Diploma in Modern Theatre Dance Branch with the ISTD. Kylie Ann is also a Certified PBT Teacher, Progressing Ballet Technique.

Caitlyn Harrold

RSD, RSB

Caitlyn trained in all styles of Dance at Pose Performing arts before becoming a student teacher and then an accredited RSD & RSB teacher. She is wonderful with our little poser’s, her warmth and passion for dance shines through and all of our students adore her. Caitlyn is currently studying occupational therapy at University.

Amy Stewart

RSD, RSB

Amy trained in all styles of Dance at Pose Performing Arts, achieving great success in her RAD ballet exams and also nationally in solo and troupe competitions. Amy started as a student teacher at Pose and is an accredited RSD and RSB teacher. She loves working with our youngest Poser’s (and they love her!) and is also studying primary school teaching at university.

Christine Simmons

Christine studied all forms of Dance at Pose, in fact she was one of the very first students! Her bubbly personality comes through in her teaching and she loves working with our RSD and RSB students! Christine is studying marketing at University and is a great addition to the RSD/RSB team.

Jordan Lazarus

Jordan graduated from Brent Street Performing Arts elite dance focusing on Performing Arts Diploma in 2019. Her theatre credits include Annie (GFO), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (TML) and Strictly Ballroom (global creatures). She has also appeared in Carols in the Domain, Disney Channel, ABC’s The Cut and numerous television commercials.

Jordan started studying dance, singing, acting and acrobatics since the age of 3 making her a versatile performer. Jordan holds an accreditation in gymnastic coaching and has represented Australia internationally in figure skating.

Kelly Callaghan

Kelly recently trained full time at Brent Street, completing a Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) focusing on performing arts.

Kelly has trained in all styles of dance including ballet, hiphop, jazz, contemporary, tap, musical theatre as well as singing and acting. She has been trained by many of the top choreographers in the industry such as Cassie Bartho, Stephen Tannos, Paris Cavanagh and Cameron Mitchell since 2015 at Brent Street Studios.

Her credits include Channel 7 “Home and Away”, extra work in Netflix series “The Reckoning”, “Penguin Bloom” and multiple TVC’s. She also worked professionally in the musical production “Grey Gardens” in 2015 at the Seymour Centre.

Kelly is studying a Bachelor of Primary Education at University this year. Heading into her second year of dance teaching, she can’t wait to further develop her passion of teaching and choreographing for young performers.
